Citrus juicer optional
- 2 oz Light Rum or Dark Rum
- 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice about half a lime
- 4 oz Cola Mexican Coca-Cola preferred
- Ice as needed
- Lime Wedge for garnish, optional
Fill a highball glass with ice.
Pour 2 oz of rum over the ice.
Squeeze half a lime into the glass. This should give you about 1/2 oz of fresh lime juice.
Top it off with 4 oz of cola.
Give it a gentle stir with a bar spoon to mix everything together.
Garnish with a lime wedge if you’d like.
- Muddle a lime wedge in the glass before adding other ingredients for extra citrus flavor.
- Adjust the rum-to-cola ratio to suit your taste. Some people like it stronger, while others enjoy a sweeter mix.
- Add a dash of bitters or a splash of aged rum for a more complex flavor.
- You can use diet cola if you want a lighter version. It changes the flavor a bit but still works well.
- We can even make a "Virgin Cuba Libre" by leaving out the rum. It's basically a lime Coke!
