Rocks glass
- 2 oz blended Scotch whisky or bourbon
- 1/4 to 1/2 oz amaretto
- Lemon or orange twist for garnish optional
Fill your mixing glass about two-thirds full with ice.
Pour in 2 oz of whisky or bourbon, then add the amaretto.
Stir with a bar spoon for about 15 to 20 seconds, just until the drink is cold and smooth.
Add fresh ice or one large cube to a rocks glass, then strain the cocktail over the ice.
Add a lemon or orange twist if you want a little citrus aroma.
Stirring keeps this drink clear, smooth, and easy to sip. Do not shake it, since shaking can make it cloudy and water down the whisky too much.
You can adjust the amaretto based on your taste. Start with less if you want the whisky to stand out more. Add a little more next time if you want it sweeter.
