Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Strainer

Ingredients

  • 2 oz mezcal
  • 2 oz grapefruit juice freshly squeezed for the best taste
  • 1 oz lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 oz honey simple syrup or regular syrup
  • Club soda to top off, around 2 oz
  • Chili-lime salt optional, for glass rim
  • Ice
  • Grapefruit or lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  • Start by rimming your glass with chili lime salt. Just rub a citrus wedge around the rim and dip it into the salt.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the mezcal, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and honey syrup. Add some ice and give it a good shake for about 15 to 20 seconds.
  • Strain the cocktail into your glass filled with fresh ice. Top it off with club soda for a fizzy finish.
  • Garnish with a wedge of grapefruit or lime for an added touch.

Notes

  • If you don’t have mezcal, you can use tequila instead. It won’t have the same smoky flavor, but it’ll still taste great. If you’re watching your sugar intake, you can skip the syrup or use a lighter sweetener.
  • No fresh grapefruit? You can swap in other citrus fruits like oranges or pomelo. Feel free to get creative with flavored soda or syrups for a different twist. Adjust the recipe to suit your taste or whatever ingredients you have on hand.
